Between 1907 and 1909, under push from Governor Thomas M. Congress had to intervene with a compromise solution, and the two lines became linked. York was a hub city, connecting towns such as Baltimore, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Philadelphia, Gettysburg and others. In 1882, the railroad started printing "The Monon Route" on company maps, later naming itself "Monon - The Hoosier Line" on timetables, letterheads, and rolling stock. In 1973, some 3,516 railcars were handled on the rail line.
